Anas v. the Giant

Synopsis: Anas Modamani arrived in Berlin in 2015 from Syria and marked the occasion with a selfie posted to Facebook.  But his photo was repurposed into a fake news story, which quickly went viral. Overnight, Anas found himself in the crosshairs of a geopolitical debate threatening everything he had built in his new home. After Facebook refused to remove the posts, Anas brought a lawsuit against the company. But what happened on his day in court? Anas’s story takes us into the heart of a fake news scandal, revealing terrifying realities of what our personal rights are in the online sphere.
